Android Reached 10 Billion Application Downloads, Apple on the Watchout

Android reaches 10 billion application downloads as of December 6, announced by Google. The first billion downloads took about 20 months, but now, it appears that about a billion downloads are sold every month. The breakthrough was made possible by the increasing number of android phones and tablets that are being used and sold by mobile manufacturers and wireless carriers.

With the rising community of Android users, it seems that Apple will be having a rough time. Though Apple already claimed that they were able to reach 18 billion of applications sold in their marketplace, the rivalry between the two companies seemed to become more intense. More and more consumers seem to buy Android phones than Apple. Android phones are not pricey, and they can provide high quality interface and multimedia. Recent sales figures show that Android phones have overtaken the sales of Apple.

In celebration of the 10 billion applications installed by Android, Google and some application manufacturers teamed up to give promotions for top 10 games and applications that will last for 10 days. Some of these games and applications include Asphalt 6:Adrenaline HD, Color and Draw for Kids, Soundhound, Swiftkey X Keyboard, and Sketchbook Mobile.
