Steps To Install Android ICS version 4.0.3 On Samsung Galaxy S2

This is for you who is not patient to wait the official Ice Cream Sandwitch upgrade release for Samsung Galaxy S2. So you can try maunally the Android 4.0.3 ICS XXKPA upgrade. If you have installed the earlier firmware, XXKP8, you also can update to the current version. There are many issues and bugs has been fix in this version.

Notes that below instructions are only work for the Galaxy S2 model GT-I9100 (international variants) not for the model GT-I9100G (US variants). check your model number phone by pressing *#1234#. also work only for not network-locked Galaxy S2 device. After upgrading to the XXKPA firmware, you need to re-rooted again to get the root access. Do not forget to backup all of the current working systems. Use battery power at least 70% when upgrading the firmware.

Detail steps to install

1- Download the Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich Firmware package here.

2- Unzip the package on you PC. To extracting RAR archive use WinRAR.

3- Run odin.exe

4- Check mark USB debugging mode on the Galaxy S2 phone (Settings >> Applications >> Development >> USB Debugging).

5- Reboot the phone into Download mode. Or keep pressing the volume down and also the home button then press the power button.

6- In download mode, connet the Galaxy S2 phone to the PC via USB cable. keep the Odin software opened.

7- Then the "ID: COM" section in the Odin app will turn to yellow. that means the device driver have been installed and recognized by the PC

8- In Odin app, Option section. Checked only the 'Re-Partition', 'Auto Reboot', and 'F. Reset Time'.

9- Click the tabs that specified below and then locate the unzipped files that you've download.

# Tab PDA – "I9100_CODE_I9100XXKPA_CL51925_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5"
# Tab Phone – "MODEM_I9100XXKPA_REV_02_CL1094591.tar.md5"
# Tab CSC – "GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXAKPA.tar.md5"

10- Check again carefully the previous tab selection. It can crash the phone if you load the wrong assosiated files into the tab selection

11- Then click Start button to begin the installation process. Once it succesfully installed, the phone will reboot automatically. Just wait it until finished

12- Disconnect your Galaxy S2 from the PC. Then turn the phone off

13- Reboot the device again and go to download mode.

14- Attach the phone to the PC again.

15- Assuming we didn't close the Odin app from previous steps, Press PDA button then choose 'I9100_KERNEL_I9100XXKP9_CL45181_REV02_eng_mid_ship.tar.md5'. double check that just this file is loaded correctly. Other tabs (PIT, Phone, CSC) should empty.

16- Checked the 'F. Reset Time' also the 'Auto Reboot' in Option section. Double check this.

17- Select Start button to installing new kernel into the phone. when it done it will reboot automatically.
