Intel Joins in the Android Bandwagon

Looks like there's a newcomer in the Android block. Intel recently touted its prototype phone that runs on an Android 2.0 OS and a tablet on an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This surely looks promising given Intel's reputation for making solid and fast computer processors. Whether or not the company will make it big in the cellphone market surely remains hopeful. Stephen Smith, Vice President of the Intel's architecture group, hinted that the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2012 will surely bring in a lot of devices that feature Intel chip processors.

As for the prototype phones, aside from running on Android OS, Intel also mentioned that these are powered by the new Medfield integrated system-and-chip. It was said that Medfield will dominate and beat the competition, because it will offer faster browsing, better graphics performance and lower power consumption than most higher end Android phones.

According to some reviews, Intel's prototype phone was powerful and visually-appealing, almost comparable to that of the high-end Android phones and the latest Apple iPhone. It can play high definition and Blu-Ray videos and then stream it to a television. It also features a powerful camera that can capture 10 eight megapixel pictures per second.

Hopefully Intel will show off more of their prototype phone and tablet before new year arrives.
